Greek Old-Timer Karavas Place Has Shuttered; East Village Loses a Juice Press

Plus, Fat Sal's on Avenue A is down for the count and Park Slope pan-Asian eatery Shamisen has closed.

1) WEST VILLAGE— Greek old-timer Karavas Place has closed down, and the windows are papered over. No word yet on what business will be replacing the Hellenic cafe. [Eaterwire]

2) EAST VILLAGE — The Juice Press on 10th Street near Avenue A has shuttered for good, after closing for renovations in early March. As EV Grieve points out, a for rent sign is now displayed prominently in the front window. [EV Grieve]

3) PARK SLOPE — Here's Park Slope reports that the all-you-can-eat sushi spot Shamisen has closed in order to transform into a restaurant that specializes in both Szechuan and Japanese food. The new owners are not confirmed, but may be related to the popular Chinese restaurant Tofu on Seventh. [Here's Park Slope]

4) ALPHABET CITY — After a four year run, Fat Sal's has served its last slice of pizza. The shop has been sold, but the new owner says he will reopen the space as a pizzeria. [EV Grieve]
