Leyenda Will Bring Latin Cocktails to Smith Street Just in Time for Summer

The Clover Club team opens their tequila, rum, and pisco-heavy cocktail bar just after Memorial Day.

Those windows will be open wide in just a couple weeks.

Leyenda, the new Latin-leaning cocktail bar from Clover Club's Julie Reiner and one of her proteges, Ivy Mix, will open the week of May 25 just down Smith Street from where Reiner's Carroll Gardens classic sits. The space is just about ready to go – ready enough to host a preview event earlier this week – but the team presumably needs some time to tie up loose ends, finalize the menu, and clear out the backyard for summer drinking.

In the meantime, a menu from the preview gives a glimpse of a handful of the cocktails being served here (though the final menu will closer to 15 drinks):

And don't forget that the food comes from Sue Torres, formerly of the now-shuttered Suenos. She's consulting on the menu (as she is at Espoleta), so don't expect to see her in the kitchen every night. But she's in the kitchen now, making dishes like goat picadillo tacos, coconut habanero shrimp panuchos, skirt steak skewers with chimichurri, and "Grandma Torres' pernil."
