Rucola's Henry Rich Opening French-Catalonian Neighborhood Spot in Greenpoint

The space should open early this summer.

Greg Morabito

Rucola, June, and Fitzcarraldo co-owner Henry Rich has been working on a Greenpoint restaurant for two years, and early this summer, the 100-seat space will finally open its doors on Franklin Street. Rich says he and his team are "trying to open the perfect neighborhood restaurant for Greenpoint." That team includes Rucola chef Joe Pasqualetto and Kickstarter founder Perry Chen.

The restaurant still doesn’t have a name (though it’s incorporated and listed on a job board under the placeholder Clouet), but the concept is set: affordable French-Catalonian. Drawing on the roots of that seaside region, Pasqualetto’s menu will focus heavily on seafood and vegetables that can be paired with regional wines. "The main thing is, we want it to be healthy and affordable enough for diners to go a couple times a week." Like Rucola, the restaurant will be open all day, so neighbors can come for breakfast, to work with their laptops, or for a meal or cocktail, explains Rich.
