Greek restaurant hit maker and Kefi owner, Michael Psilakis is finally opening his Williamsburg outpost of MP Taverna today, five years after the idea was floated. The fourth location of the casual taverna is roomy with seating for 120 including at a long bar and at a communal table for 12 upfront. There's lots of natural light and a sort of industrial meets country vibe, with an orange tree hanging out in the space. Next door, Psilakis is working on the Hall at MP, which will be a beer hall and and performance space slated to open this summer.
The Menu: Psilakis's menu includes Greek classics like tarama with pita and roasted whole fish, and a few more modern variations like grilled calamari pickled vegetables and spicy labne, and crispy cod with ricotta, tomatoes, and a garlic and potato sauce. The restaurant will also roast whole animals like lamb, suckling pig, and kid goat for groups who make plans in advance. To go with all of that grilled fare, there are 19 beers and sangria on tap. There's also brunch with dishes like eggs baked with spinach and mushrooms.
