EAST VILLAGE — Kennedy Fried Chicken was forced out of its 14th Street home by a court order. According to a neighbor, who spoke with EV Grieve, a "dispute over repeated fines that the building's owner received from the city for non-compliance over recycling has forced the longtime East Village location to terminate its lease and vacate the rental property."

TRIBECA — After 20 years, neighborhood favorite Tribeca Pizza closed up shop, reports Tribeca Citizen. The team left a note thanking its patrons in the window.

LOWER EAST SIDE — Cafe El Portal has been closed for two weeks, notes Bowery Boogie. There are a slew of notices outside including one that blames a "gas leak" for the closure, but the restaurant also racked up 65 points in its latest department of health inspection, to that might have something to do with it as well. In the meantime, chef Gloria Arteaga is cooking at El Portal's sister restaurant Casa Mezcal.

EAST VILLAGE — Inexpensive vegan Vietnamese spot Lan Cafe served its final meal last night, according to EV Grieve. It's lease came up this morning and wasn't renewed.
