Le District's Garden Market Opening Soon; Dimes Is on the Move, Stylishly

Plus, a food conference this weekend, a fundraiser to fight child hunger, and an update from Goa Taco.

BATTERY PARK — Le District's openings are almost complete. Brasserie Beaubourg and Le Bar started serving tres French fare a week ago and now, eight market counters including the wine bar and butcher counter are open, as are the market's coffee and pastry sections. The garden district, which will carry prepared foods and groceries will open in about 10 days. Still to come is the tasting menu restaurant L'Appart and outdoor seating, which should make their debut next month. [EaterWire]

UNION SQUARE — Gotham on a Plate: Food and NYC is a two day conference on food in New York taking place this weekend at the New School. Panelists include former Times writers Mimi Sheraton and William Grimes, food scholar Marion Nestle, New York magazine critic Adam Platt, and cookbook author and chef Rozanne Gold.
