East Village Favorite Tuome Remains Dark Eight Days After Kitchen Fire

What appears to be kitchen equipment is stacked up in dining room.

Bess Adler

After a supposedly small kitchen fire on March 29, the cozy East Village critical darling Tuome went dark and silent. A neighbor told EV Grieve that the restaurant would open in a week, but that has come and gone. Late last week the team posted a note in the window saying the restaurant would be closed on Thursday and Friday, but has otherwise remained entirely quiet. There's nothing on restaurant's social media or voicemail about the shutter, and OpenTable simply notes "Online reservations are not available on this date at this restaurant." Yesterday, EV Grieve stopped by again and spotted some kitchen equipment stacked up in the dining room. Hopefully, that means the restaurant can start cooking again sometime soon.
