Depressing Shell of Madison Square Park Shake Shack Shows Fresh Signs of Life

The burgers should return to Madison Square Park sometime soon.

The shack that launched all Shake Shacks is getting all spiffy for its return debut in Madison Square Park. In fact, as Danny Meyer himself just noted, the siding is going up right now:

It's beginning to look a lot like @shakeshack !

The empty shell of Shake Shack, which closed in October for a top-to-bottom makeover, has been one of the most deeply depressing sights of the winter, so these signs of life are as sweet a sight as the first crocuses emerging from their bulbs. Shake Shake was on the community board's docket last night for a re-opening celebration of some sort on May 8, but the team says the reopening date is still TBD. Still, these are all very good signs, and before we know it we'll all be waiting in line for burgers again.
