Burrito Chain Blockheads Eyes Cursed Apiary Space on 3rd Avenue

Since Apiary closed, no restaurant has lasted even a year. Will Blockheads break the curse?

Robert Sietsema

Brothers Ken and Don Sofer, who own the mini chain of SF-style Mexican restaurants Blockheads, are taking a stab at the cursed space at 60 Third Avenue, reports EV Grieve. An outpost of Unidentified Flying Chickens landed in the space last summer, but has been planning to pack up its friers and go since February. The owners of Taproom 307 tried to get a liquor license for the address but couldn't pull it off, and before all of this, the remake of Apiary, Après, lasted just three weeks in the space. The Sofer brothers will appear before the community board's SLA committee this month.
