Sneak a Glimpse Inside Dominique Ansel's New Pastry Palace, Opening Tomorrow in the West Village

While Ansel talks inspiration, a new video give a first look at his stunner of a bakery.

Marguerite Preston

Dominique Ansel, Cronut king and all around pastry whiz, opens his wildly anticipated West Village bakery, Dominique Ansel Kitchen, bright and early tomorrow morning. It's a big, beautiful, two-story space (plus a kitchen in the basement), outfitted with a big sidewalk cafe, a corner of stadium seating, and a table that lowers down from the ceiling for evening dessert tastings on the second floor.

Time magazine has a video today in which Ansel discusses the challenges of doing what he's doing at Dominique Ansel Kitchen, where everything is made or prepared to order. It also gives a tiny glimpse of the new bakery, both under construction and in its finished form. Watch below to catch a few early peeks at what to expect, plus plenty of pastry porn, and a guest appearance by Wylie Dufresne. Tomorrow you'll get to see a whole lot more, including plenty of surprises not yet revealed on Ansel's Instagram – or so executive chef Karys Logue promises.
