The owner of Tompkins Square Bagels, Christopher Pugliese, tells EV Grieve that he is opening a second location of his always-mobbed bagel shop in the former Open Pantry space on 2nd Avenue and 12th Street. Another outpost could go a long way towards easing those insane lines for good bagels and birthday cake cream cheese. The owners of Open Pantry, which closed at the end of January after 45 years selling coffee beans and groceries, happen to also own the building, and were eager to fill it with a small business owner like Pugliese. As he tells EV Grieve, "They specifically made it a point not to bring in a big corporate business. They wanted to keep it local." More info, like an opening date, to follow.
