Danny Meyer's Southern Bar Porchlight, Saturday Night at 6 p.m.

The patrons, the rocking chairs and the cocktails.

Welcome to a weekend edition of Eater Scenes, where Eater visits one of the city's many restaurants, bars, and food events to capture it at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, take a look around Porchlight, hospitality maven Danny Meyer's first foray into bars. The cocktail lounge has a Southern theme—think reclaimed concrete floors, old salvaged beams, and an actual porch with rocking chairs. Meyer spots tend to have universal appeal, so it makes sense that the Saturday night scene included everyone from couples on dates to finance bros sipping beers to a family with kids. The bar filled up quickly, but was never overwhelmingly crowded and the burly bartenders kept a pretty fast pace with the drinks.
