Here's a look inside Rebelle, the new wine-focused restaurant from Pearl & Ash owners Branden McRill and Patrick Cappiello, which opened earlier this week on the Bowery. The former R Bar space got an industrial-chic makeover courtesy of the design team hOme, which took out the old stripper poles, added a big marble bar, and unearthed a skylight at the back of the restaurant. The extensive bar seating also offers an inside view of the restaurant's open kitchen, helmed by Daniel Eddy, formerly of Spring restaurant in Paris. Eddy's menu is modern French, dishes like lamb tartare, scallops with sea urchin, and duck breast with endive, orange, and smoked almonds.
And it wouldn't really be a restaurant from the Pearl & Ash owners without an emphasis on wine. The list is 80-plus pages long, and the multitude of glassware in the space act almost like another form of decor. The combined effect of that lengthy wine list, an abundance of two tops, and that romantic skylight could make Rebelle into an ideal date night spot. Take a look around, and another look at the menu below.
