French mondo-plex Le District is ticking off the openings of its various sections one by one. The pastry cases and cafe debuted late last week and today the market's flagship restaurant Beaubourg and its bar, Le Bar, are opening. Fabrice Renaudin and Nicolas Abello will be running the kitchen, and have set things up to be as French as possible. Still to open is a good chunk of the market itself and the 28-seat tasting counter L'Appart, run by El Bulli alum Jordi Vallès, which is slated for sometime in May.
The Menu: Beaubourg's menu, which can also be ordered at Le Bar, is tres French both in style and substance. Dish names appear in French, and there are lots of brasserie classics like escargot with garlic and butter, moules mariniere, pike quenelles, frogs legs, and roasted chicken for two served with truffle potato mousseline. Rounding out options are a raw section and a house burger, which comes topped with tomme de Savoie, roasted peppers, tarragon dressing, and onion compote.
