Spanish mini-sandwich chain 100 Montaditos is seriously struggling with its ambitious U.S. expansion plans, reports Nation's Restaurant News. This week, the company filed for bankruptcy in a court in Florida, where the chain opened the first of its 17 U.S. outposts. The company previously announced plans to blanket NYC with 30 outposts by 2017, but a location on Ludlow Street never caught on, and last we checked was being turned into a more "upscale concept." There doesn't appear to be any movement on that location, which was slated to reopen last month. Meanwhile, the Bleecker Street location, close to hoards of NYU students in need of $3 sandwiches, is still open.
