This brutal winter is taking its toll on the city's restaurants. Neighborhood favorite 606 R&D couldn't weather the storm, and will close on March 15th. The restaurant received generally favorable reviews from the critics, with especially high marks going to the baked goods put out by City Bakery vets and owners Ilene Rosen and Sara Dima. Unfortunately, the sweets weren't enough to keep business coming. According to Grub Street, owners Dima and Rosen say that "A number of factors contributed to this decision, amongst them lack of business during the frigid nights of the past few months." They also mentioned a desire to "focus on R&D Foods" their prepared foods shop next-door, which will remain open.
