Upscale Sports Bar The Windsor Temporarily Shuts Its Doors in the West Village

A pending grade from the DOH may have something to do with it.

Ben Jay

The Windsor, an upscale sports bar from John DeLucie and company (of the Lion, Crown, and elsewhere), has temporarily shuttered its West Village outlet. A sign posted outside says that the bar is closed for renovations, but a neighbor reports that there's no indication of reopening anytime soon and an Eater photographer didn't spot any construction workers when he visited yesterday. The bar has had a pending grade from the Department of Health since October of last year, so the shutter could be related to that. But there has also been a lot of trouble brewing in the DeLucie empire recently – he has allegedly banned partner Sean Largotta from The Lion over money issues, and Crown could get the boot from its landlord.

On the other hand, the Gansevoort Park location of is still open. Eater has reached out to the team for a update.
