Alex Stupak Turns to Change.org to Get Sidewalk Seating for Empellon Al Pastor

Alex Stupak wants to add outdoor seating at his graffiti-covered taqueria Empellon Al Pastor and is now trying to drum up support with a petition on change.org. A note to potential signatories says:

We are asking for your help with expanding our venue. We would love to offer you outdoor seating during the summer and need your support when presenting this idea to the Community Board. If you would like to see this expansion as much as we do, please sign below!

As of this morning, 48 people have signed the petition and Stupak is shooting for 100 (which doesn't seem like that many?). But, there's a glitch in this plan, which EV Grieve points out. When the community board ok'd the liquor license for the taco bar a year ago, there was a stipulation that Al Pastor "will not commercially operate any outdoor areas." On the one hand, it could be nice to sit outside and watch the goings-on in Tompkins Square Park with a couple of pork tacos and a margarita for company. On the other hand, agreements like this are tough to overturn. Stay tuned.
