Just a day after rumors (not to mention security guards) suggested that Shake Shack was opening an outpost in Fulton Center, the good people at Shack have made it official. The billionth (er, eighth) Manhattan outpost of Danny Meyer's wildly successful burger chain will open in the Financial District's gleaming, $1.4 billion new transit center in 2016. According to the press release, it will be located on the second floor of the retail complex at Fulton Center, and will serve all the usual burger, hot dog, and custard suspects.
Before that happens, Another Shake Shack is slated to open in Herald Square this year in 2016. Plus the esteemed original, though running behind schedule, should also reopen in Madison Square Park, after a top to bottom renovation. Though it should have opened this month, reps now say it's looking like a late spring or summer opening. Just in time for people to comfortably wait in line outside for hours.
