La Bottega's Transformation Into Mario Batali's Maritima Has Barely Begun

But the coastal Italian restaurant in the Maritime Hotel could still open by the end of the summer.

Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich are keeping fairly quiet about their Maritime Hotel Project, tentatively called Maritima, but an Eater sleuth managed to snap a picture through the blinds. So far, the space still looks a lot like the former occupant, La Bottega. Some of the restaurant's bottles are even still lining the shelves. But word on the street is that the restaurant is aiming to open by the end of summer, so perhaps the space won't be entirely gutted.

Menus are never final until they hit the floor, but an early draft submitted to the community board outlines offerings for three meals a day including fried eggs with bottarga and ricotta for breakfast, lots of antipasti, and a seafood heavy menu for dinner.
