Meatballer Michael Chernow Earns CB Approval for Seamore's, His Seafood Restaurant

The Meatball Shop co-owner will use locally-sourced fish like seabream and sea robin.

The Meatball Shop

The Meatball Shop's Michael Chernow is moving forward on his fish-centric restaurant, Seamore's, in Nolita. This is Chernow's first foray into seafood but, according to DNA Info, he is sure that, "with my track record, people will come."

He presented a proposed menu and floor plan to the Community Board on Tuesday. The menu, not surprisingly, is all about the fish: ceviche, fish and chips, fish tacos, and a riff on a po' boy, with prices ranging from $11 to $22. The emphasis is on local varieties like seabream and sea robin, which Chernow will be sourcing from Montauk purveyor Dock to Dish. The floor plan shows a nine-seat bar and a soft-serve machine, so there may be some house made desserts on offer as well. CB2 voted in support Chernow's application for a full liquor license, so progress is being made over at Seamore's. More details, including an opening date, to follow.
