From the agenda [link to PDF] for tonight's Community Board 1 meeting in Brooklyn, it looks like barbecue expert Daniel Delaney is applying for a liquor license at 18 Franklin Street, a big space out on the western edge of Greenpoint. Does this mean that the mayor of BrisketTown is expanding his smoked meat empire north? That looks highly likely.
Not long ago, Delaney Instagrammed this mysterious photo of an empty warehouse space, which could easily be the Franklin Street space in question:
There's no telling whether this will be another outpost of Delaney's ever-popular Williamsburg restaurant, or whether he has something else up his sleeve. He has, after all, been perfecting a fried chicken recipe that has yet to make an appearance at BrisketTown or elsewhere. And he's also been known to make a good burger, and a mean brisket taco. Eater has reached out to Delaney. Stay tuned for more details.
In other news, it looks like the Maison Premiere team is applying for a sidewalk cafe for their new Greenpoint restaurant in the old Lokal space. The name given on the application is Sauvage, but according to a representative, that won't be the name of the actual restaurant. Beyond that, the team behind the Williamsburg cocktail destination is staying tight-lippped on what this restaurant will actually be, but as of now they are aiming for a late spring opening.
