LA-based kosher chef Alex Reznik, a former cheftestapant on Top Chef, is returning to his native New York to open Bedford Kitchen in a few weeks. According to its Facebook page, restaurant "will feature the finest local craft beers and most interesting and eclectic range of wines. The menu features a modern approach on a variety of traditionally inspired American plates with a flavor first mentality." Reznik already runs the well-received Ditmas Kitchen & Cocktail in the Pico Robertson neighborhood of LA and keeping with the theme of restaurants with Brooklyn-y names that aren't actually in Brooklyn, Bedford Kitchen will open in a Jewish pocket of Flushing near Queen's College.
New York's kosher scene has upped its game in the past few years with places like Pardes, Mason & Mug, and Basil, all of which are run by some seriously talented kitchen staff who are determined not to serve the painfully ubiquitous kosher steak and sushi. Reznik should fit right into that mix.
