Little Beet and Melt Shop Expand to a Mall on Long Island

An outpost of Franklin Becker's healthy fast-casual spot Little Beet and Spencer Rubin's grilled cheese chain Melt Shop are opening this week in a new market — the Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island. The move for both businesses is somewhat surprising, but less so for Melt Shop. Rubin already has a few locations around NYC and will open his first D.C. shop in a couple of weeks. For Becker, on the other hand, this is only the second location of Little Beet. With the recent debut of his sit down healthy spot Little Beet Table and a steakhouse in the works, it seems unlikely he will be able to spend much time overseeing the mall outlet. According to a rep, both brands are looking to expand, so perhaps more locations, mall or otherwise, are on their way.
