Seamstress, A Cocktail Lair With a Leather Goods Shop on the Upper East Side

Look around the new cocktail lounge and restaurant, which has an antique vibe and lots of sewing machines.

At night, the new Upper East Side cocktail bar and restaurant Seamstress is a bit like a woodsy lair, dark and warm with two bars, deep red banquettes, large wood beams along the ceiling, and a table made from a tree trunk. The project is a collaboration from several food and beverage pros who live in the neighborhood, including partners from nearby cocktail spot The Gilroy, Duck's Eatery chef Will Horowitz, and former Dead Rabbit bartender Pam Wiznitzer. Together they've assembled a lengthy all-American leather-bound menu, which includes classic and house cocktails, along with numerous small plates. Tiny sewing machines also appear around the space and there's a small leather goods shop by the coat check/host stand. The glow comes from several iron chandeliers and dangling filament bulbs. Take a look around and check out the menus below.
