Construction permits have cleared for the expansion of pretty person hangout Dimes. Co-owner Sabrina De Sousa sends word that work is underway at the new, bigger location, just down Canal Street, where Cochinita Dos lived for a short while. The restaurant already serves what Robert Sietsema calls "improbably good" healthy food, but a bigger kitchen will hopefully let the team expand their menu options. There will also be liquor at the new location and more seating.
Once the new home is ready, the teeny tiny original will become Dimes Superette, selling food to go, produce, and dry goods. There are also promises of an in-house apothecary, but work on that space won't start until everything is settled down the street.
Check out the giant new space, which could hold at least two old Dimes.
