A Tuxedoed Georges Briguet May Have to Leave Le Périgord for Jail

The 77-year-old owner is pleading guilty to a tax felony.

Georges Briguet, the 77-year-old owner of haute French restaurant Le Périgordmay be facing jail time, reports the Daily News. The legendary host, who still works at the restaurant regularly in his signature tuxedo, is pleading guilty to a tax felony. His defense lawyer Brian Ketcham won't say what the charge is exactly, but promises that it has nothing to do with the restaurant. Since the court case is being heard on Long Island, where Briguet has a house, that seems to match up. Still, it's hard to imagine Le Périgord running as it does now with Briguet behind bars.
