Roy Choi Hints at Bringing Loco'l, His Revolutionary Fast Food Concept, to NYC Soon

"I want to open in NYC so bad."

Amy McKeever

Roy Choi, the superstar chef/restaurateur/author behind LA's Kogi Truck and L.A., Son has long teased the possibility of opening a New York restaurant, and today in an Ask Me Anything on Reddit, he stoked the fire. He was talking about Loco'l, the sustainable, healthy fast food concept he's launching with San Francisco chef Daniel Patterson, and while much of the conversation focused on all the fundraising he'll have to do, he did drop a juicy tidbit for East Coasters eager for the Roy Choi arrival. In response to a question about whether he'll ever open a restaurant or launch a food truck here, Choi responded: "I want to open in NYC so bad, just haven't found the right move, but I think LocoL is the one. Stay tuned."

So it sounds like it can only be a matter of time, provided the duo can secure enough investment and make it past the opening of the first two California outposts.
