Will Guidara, Daniel Humm, and the rest of The Nomad squad are opening a second iteration of their wildly popular hotel/dining complex in Los Angeles. Just like the New York City original, the new Nomad will have a marquee restaurant, but it won't be an exact replica of the one at 1170 Broadway. Guidara tells Jonathan Gold: "There will definitely be a lot that is similar to the New York restaurant...But we are determined not to just cut and paste either the décor or the menu." The restaurateur also notes: "We'll be serving the seafood plateau, the foie gras-stuffed chicken and the suckling pig from New York — the classics....But the more time we spend out in Los Angeles, the more excited we become about the possibilities out there, and the real vitality of the chefs' community." There are no plans for an LA outpost of Eleven Madison Park...yet.
Time and time again, Guidara and Humm have proved that they love big, splashy, ambitious dining experiences. This will no doubt be a restaurant the likes of which Los Angeles has never seen before. In an email to guests today, The Nomad team notes: "The team at Made Nice is incredibly proud to be working again with The Sydell Group on this most exciting second act. Coming Fall 2017."
The Nomad Part Deux will be located in Downtown LA's Giannini Building at the corner of Olive and 7th Street. Eater LA notes that this neighborhood "has been in the midst of an ongoing renaissance, with an astounding array of new restaurants and hotels opening within the last few years." Stay tuned for more details on The Nomad expansion as they become available.
