42-year-old Soho health food restaurant Spring Street Natural is gearing up to move around the corner. The restaurant's last day on Spring Street will be January 1, and restaurateur Rus Schoenholt hopes to open the new iteration of the cafe at 96 Kenmare Street around the middle of the month — they're shooting for January 18. Spring Street Natural has moved once before, but since its debut in 1973, it has always been on Spring Street. Schoenholt was forced to find a new location after his landlord increased the rent.
The restaurant recently shared renderings of the new Kenmare location on its Facebook page. Located next-door to the forthcoming spinoff of Charlie Bird, Spring Natural will be broken into two levels, each with a full bar. Designed by Kananshree, the exterior is a bit reminiscent of Schiller's — note the subway tiles and "liquor bar" sign.
