Here is a look around Jue Lan Club, a new upscale Chinese restaurant from former Philippe partner Stratis Morfogen in the Chelsea space that once housed The Limelight. Robert Collins, a longtime GM at Lure Fishbar, is a partner in this new project. The name is derived from a club that a bunch of avant garde artists opened in Shanghai back in the 1930s. It translates to "determination to create change" although the modern Manhattan version of the club is dedicated to "cuisine, art" and "nightly revelry." The menu from Oscar Toro, who last worked at Buddakan, is a mix of classic and modern takes on Chinese cuisine. Take a look around and if you happen to stop by, let us know what you think.
