Hot Portland Sandwich Shop Bunk Expands to Williamsburg

A sandwich legend just moved to Brooklyn.

Today, chef/restaurateur Tommy Habetz opened the Williamsburg location of his cheap eats hit Bunk Sandwiches. Just like the restaurants in Portland, Oregon, Bunk BK will serve breakfast sandwiches and riffs on classics like the tuna melt, the Italian combo, and peanut butter and jelly, plus salads, soups, and snacks — some locations in PDX have both Russian and carne asada fries. Just like at the Oregon outposts, artist Casey Burns created a mural for the dining room. Former Milk Bar chef de cuisine Jake Adams is running the kitchen at the new restaurant on the corner of Driggs and South 2nd Street.

Habetz and the Bunk crew were at the Eater Awards last night serving salt cod sandwiches with Spanish chorizo, and pound cake grilled cheese sandwiches with pears and brie. To celebrate the opening of the Brooklyn shop, the Bunk Team is running an Instagram contest where the prize is a basket of artisan goodies from Portland. If you happen to stop by this week, let us know what you think.
