Shack HQ Confirms: Queens Is Getting Another Standalone Shake Shack

Shack burgers for all in Forest Hills.

Just this morning we circulated the fresh rumor that Shake Shack is working on a new outpost in Forest Hills, and now the official word is in from Shack HQ: Yes, Queens is getting another standalone Shake Shack. The address, as rumored, is 71-26 Austin Street. As a rep tells Eater, "It feels good to continue to deepen our footprint in our hometown of NYC."

Queens has suffered a dearth of Shacks compared to Brooklyn and Manhattan, but Danny Meyer and his team of burger wizards finally seem to be remedying that. Though right now the only Shake Shacks in the borough are behind the ticket-requiring gates of Citi Field and JFK, the first standalone outpost is already in the works in Elmhurst, in the Queens Center Mall. That one's supposed to open some time in 2016, and presumably this Forest Hills one will too (though no word on exactly when).
