When Kanye, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Mariah Carey go to Paris, they often to choose to part with their cash at L'Avenue on Avenue Montaigne. And now, that clubby French cafe is coming to NYC. At some point in 2018, a version of this restaurant will open inside Saks Fifth Avenue in Midtown. And, actually, the store might have a bunch of mini L'Avenues — an announcement about the project notes that it will be "set in various unique locations" inside Saks.
The department store's flagship is about to undergo renovations that will last for three years. In a statement, the store's president Marc Metrick remarks: "Bringing Parisian legend L'Avenue to our flagship furthers our mission to make Saks the hero again." Racked NY reports that one of the new L'Avenue dining rooms will inhabit the ninth floor space that houses Cafe SFA, and the restaurant will serve both lunch and dinner.
In other retail/dining news, the owners of Euro favorite Sant Ambroeus are planning a new cafe version of the restaurant inside Sotheby's at 1334 York Ave. The team has applied for a liquor license for the cafe. It will probably replace Sotheby's Terrace Cafe.
