People Are Already Waiting in Line for Free Chick-Fil-A

Chick-fil-A opening day insanity has already begun.

It's currently 52 degrees and rainy in Manhattan, but the unforgiving weather is not deterring these people from waiting in line outside of New York City's first standalone location of Chick-fil-A. Tomorrow morning at 6 a.m., when the store opens, the first hundred customers will get free food for a year — one meal a week. So if these people can rough it out for the next 15 hours, they will be rewarded with an endless sea of crispy chicken sandwiches, lemonade, and biscuits.

When an Eater editor walked by a few minutes ago, the gentleman at the front of the line confirmed that he was indeed waiting for the free food. As you can see, he has a non-folding, cushioned chair, which is a real pro move for this sort of thing.  Crain's notes that Chick-fil-A has hired security for the evening to watch over the line-waiters The free chicken contest is open to anyone within a 30 mile radius of the store.
