As rumored, restaurateur Jake Dell is indeed planning to open a spinoff of Katz's Delicatessen inside of the Dekalb Market, which is now under construction in Downtown Brooklyn. Dell tells Flo Fab: "The main thing is that it’s hard to get down to the Lower East Side, and Brooklyn has been a strong part of our customer base...We can make it a little easier for our customers who have been coming for generations." The market will have around 57 vendors including Fletcher's Barbecue and the Arepa Lady, plus a location of Trader Joe's. The new Brooklyn version of Katz's will not be a full-fledged restaurant, but rather an "outpost" inside the market. The project is slated to open in about a year.
