Following the rumors of earlier this week, that Houston Street icon Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery was being pushed out by a rent hike, the ancient institution once again insists it is in no danger of closing. According to manager Ellen Anistratov "We've been here for over 100 years, and are planning to stay another hundred." One never knows for certain about these things, of course, but for now it still looks like the LES gets to keep one of it's Jewish landmarks.
