Tavern on the Green Hopes Brand New Menu Will Be Its Saving Grace

Can this menu save TOTG?

Daniel Krieger

Chef Jeremiah Tower has finally unveiled the dinner menu that he (and Tavern on the Green investors) hope will save the multi-million dollar revamp of the icon from another brutal round of zero-star reviews.

The California cuisine legend, who came out of retirement to take the gig, took a page out of TOTG menus from the 1950's, so expect classic dishes like lobster salad, crimini mushroom soup, and Tower's riff on osso bucco made with monkfish instead of veal. Entrees include a grilled pork chop with ancho chili infused hominy, steak with a foie gras sauce and a black pepper swordfish. The bar menu includes more casual options like a Tavern Burger and signature cocktails like the Queens: vodka, velvet falernum, hibiscus liqueur, pomegranate molasses, and lemon juice. Check out the whole menu here. A rep sends word that, though the menu is live, the chefs are still tinkering with a few dishes. So stay tuned for an update.
