A Williamsburg bar recently installed a full skateboarding bowl, to provide Brooklyn skate bros and girls with a place to practice their stunts in the colder months. With some help from Levi's and Huf, the proprietors of Black Bear Bar managed to wedge to bowl into the space that's usually used as a music venue, and still kept enough room to stand around at the bar and drink.
It may seem like plopping a dangerous sporting arena down into the middle of a bar isn't the wisest choice, but don't worry, they've already thought of that. No one is allowed to pound a beer and then hop in the bowl – drinking has to happen after skateboarding.
According to the Brooklyn Paper, Black Bear is now drawing anywhere between 30 and 50 skateboarders a day. The skate bowl should be around for at least three months, maybe longer, according to a Levi's representative, but it sounds like eventually it will come down. Once it's warmer, skateboarders will have to head back outside.
