Those who pay close attention to the goings on at Penn Station shouldn't have been too surprised to find a long stretch of its seedy, subterranean fast food joints replaced by a giant wall of black plywood over the weekend. The landlord decided to kick out ten of the businesses in that dingy corridor – including Pizza Hut, T.G.I. Friday's, and KFC – last spring, and now the time has come to do so. All these places will supposedly be replaced by better, slightly more upscale places eventually, although back in September an Amtrak representative told the Times it would likely take "several years" for all the new things to open.
In the meantime, according to NBC News, there are some commuters out there who are genuinely confused and disappointed to learn they can no longer get a slice of pizza for the train:
