Recette's Fifth Anniversary, Cider and Cassoulet Feast, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:


1) Recette's Fifth Anniversary
When: Tomorrow
Where: Recette
What: Recette is celebrating five years of service by putting out a series of menus that feature the restaurant's most popular dishes. The first in this supper series debuts tomorrow, with a four course dinner for $40.

2) Learn How to Butcher a Fish
When: Tomorrow, 10:00 a.m.
Where: Institute of Culinary Education
What: Learn to fillet and prepare fish using classic French techniques. The class costs $120, but will reward attendees with the skills to make the perfect fish stock, snapper en papillote, etc.

3) Black Crescent Fundraiser
When: Tomorrow, 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Where: Ward III
What: Ward III is hosting a fundraiser for oyster bar Black Crescent, which was forced to temporarily close after a fire last weekend. Great cocktails for a charitable cause, what more do you need to know?

4) Cider and Cassoulet
When: Today, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Jimmy's No. 43
What: Jimmy's No. 43 will be holding its seventh annual cassoulet celebration this weekend. Three types of cassoulet prepared by chef Annette Tomei will be paired with six ciders for the asking price of $55. While the cassoulet is, obviously, French, the ciders represent the best things happening to apples in New York right now.The lineup includes a TBA Aaron Burr selection, a perry from Eve's Cidery and a couple of French options to round things out.

5) Dover Quartet at Tarallucci E Vino
When: Tomorrow, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Tarallucci E Vino
What: Dinner and some chamber music make for a classy night out. Check out the Dover Quartet, which will be performing at tomorrow night at Tarallucci E Vino. Tickets cost $80 and include a three course meal and drinks.
