Alex Day and David Kaplan of Death & Co couldn't stand to see Lower East Side dive bar 151 close, so they bought it with their partners from L.A.'s Honeycut. The team wanted to keep the bar's DNA intact, but give it a cocktail-focused update. Wood paneling now covers the formerly graffitied walls and the bar menu has been overhauled into a long list of classics done properly, plus a few house specials including a slushie made with cachaça, lillet rosé, pamplemouse, aperol, and pineapple and lime juices. The small food menu uses ingredients from neighborhood places like Lower East Side pickles and Kossar's bialy's, plus, there are frozen Girl Scout Cookies year round.
