It may have taken Russ & Daughters 100 years to expand from an appetizing store to a full-service cafe, but now that Russ & Daughters Cafe is up and running, a second one is already in the works, far from the shop's Lower East Side home. Owners Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper have just announced plans to open a 75 seat cafe and retail counter on the ground floor of the Jewish Museum by next year. The new place will serve a mix of items both new and old, ranging from the requisite smoked fish and bagels, to the salads, egg creams, and knishes that have been such a hit at the Lower East Side cafe. Plus, unlike the standalone cafe, this new outpost will be entirely kosher. It's slated to open in early 2015.
