Beneath the floorboards of Larry Gagosian's high end art gallery on Madison Avenue, sushi master Masa Takayama has been designing a space of his own, Kappo Masa. The restaurant, which is a partnership between Gagosian and Takayama, is slated to open later this month, according to the Wall Street Journal. There will be sushi, though with considerably less pomp than at Masa and the menu will be largely a la carte, highlighting different Japanese cooking techniques. Prices are also expected to be gentler than those at Masa and there will be more than three times the seats. Takayama explains: "If Japanese people hear it...they'll hear it as Masa's Japanese Restaurant."
