Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) Pig Island
When: Today from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Waterfront at Erie Basin Park
What: Check out the fifth annual Pig Island festival which showcases a variety of porcine preparations from New York chefs. Emily in Clinton Hill will be cooking a smoked pig pizza and Ben Schneider of The Good Fork and St. John Frizell of Fort Defiance are teaming up to prepare a pit-roasted whole "Merpig" (roast pig wrapped in seaweed), among many others. There will also be local beer options from breweries like Sixpoint, Singlecut Beersmiths, Barrier Brewing, and hard ciders from the Hudson Valley as well as cooking demonstrations and live music. VIP tickets will set you back $75.
2) TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint
When: Tomorrow from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: East River State Park
What: This event (also in it's fifth year) features small bites dishes from over 40 neighborhood restaurants, bars, and food shops. The exhaustive list includes the Bedford Cheese Shop, The Elm, Extra Fancy, Maison Premiere, McClure's Pickles, Reynard, and many more. Tickets start at $25, which includes four food "tastes" and two drink "tastes." All proceeds go to the Northside Town Hall Community and Cultural Center.
3) New Tasting Menu at Washington Market Tavern
When: Tomorrow evening
Where: Washington Market Tavern
What: Washington Market Tavern is launching a 12-course tasting menu tomorrow with unusual dishes like caribou moss and gooseneck barnacles and a few less exotic ones like caramel corn. This dinner, which will be held every Sunday, costs $250. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing events@washingtonmarkettavern.com.
4) Governors Island Party
When: Tomorrow, 1 p.m.
Where: Governors Island
What: Pretend like we're still in the depths of summer at this seafood party on the beach at Governor's Island. Various crustaceans like lobster and shrimp will be on offer as well as an open bar for VIP ticket holders. Tickets start at $45 and ramp up to $150 for those that feel like really ballin out.
5) PourMania
When: Today, 1 p.m.
Where: 120 Bay Café
What: This beer tasting in Staten Island has an adventurous line up of beer including a smokey chipotle porter and a chocolate chai stout. Tickets cost $25.
