Le Bernardin's first offshoot in 28 years, Aldo Sohm Wine Bar, started pouring wine from its extensive menu last night. The spot is helmed by Le Bern's sommelier Aldo Sohm, but Maguy Le Coze and Eric Ripert are deeply involved. To pair with the wine, there is a very simple French inspired menu of small plates like mini boudin blanc, a variety of "Brooklyn Charlie's" charcuterie including a lardo "dip," and a selection of cheeses from Murray's. Lunch service, which starts today, offers a few salads and panini like one with roasted tomato and comté. Upstairs from the wine bar, Ripert and Le Coze also just opened a new private dining room, Le Bernardin Privé. Check out the wine bar menus below, and stay tuned for photos.
