This week, we bid farewell to Paulie Gee's takeout. "Since our pies are best enjoyed in our restaurant, right out of our oven we are discontinuing take out as of 10/1," says Paulie Giannone on Instagram. He follows up with Eater, adding: "[with] the nature of the quick, high heat baked Neapolitan style pizza, placing it in a pizza box steams it and changes the character of the crust considerably and not for the better."
Not everyone is happy about the move but the the discriminating pizzaiolo promises: "It will help cut down on the wait for a table. I'm not just sellin' pies, I'm offering a dining experience." This is undoubtedly sad news for Greenpointers, but anyone really desperate for a quality pie to take home can always try the new options at Roberta's.
