TV Foodperson Carla Hall Resorts to Crowdfunding for NYC Restaurant

Carla Hall, former Top Cheftestapant and current co-host of The Chew, has just announced plans to open a Nashville hot chicken restaurant called Carla Hall's Southern Kitchen in New York City next year. First, however, she's trying to raise $250,000 on Kickstarter for the project. The campaign launches tomorrow, and runs through October 29.

No word on why a celeb chef such as herself needs to take to Kickstarter to raise money, but nonetheless, if it's successful, Hall plans to open a Southern-style restaurant by spring of 2015. There will also be a "general store" called Freddie Mae's Provisions adjacent, with Nashville-made products for sale. Eventually, Hall hopes to open other locations elsewhere.
