After 29 years in Midtown, Chinese restaurant Chin Chin will soon pack up its woks and move downtown. "The landlord wants more and more and the demographics are changing in this area,'' says owner Jimmy Chin, whose restaurant has hosted a range of celebrities including Jay Z, Mariah Carey, and Ben Affleck. "It's time to turn a new page,'' he added. He plans to close in a month or two and open a less extensive and more gently priced version of the restaurant. He's currently considering two spaces near the Rivington Hotel. The Midtown space may not be empty for long. According to Chin, the owners of Hamptons hot spot Red Stixs have their eye on the space. The Red Stixs team declined to comment on the project.
