The NYC Department of Health didn't take the last week of August off shuttering both the Pearl Street Diner downtown and a Chipotle uptown. Both establishments have reopened under grade pending status, which means they got a letter grade less than an A upon re-inspection. Pearl Street Diner was closed for accruing 77 violation points including holding cold food at the wrong temperature and for inadequate hand washing facilities. Chipotle got 72 point for holding both hot and cold food at the wrong temperatures amongst other violations. It is a rare misstep for the popular chain - 42 out of 45 NYC Chipotles hold A grades, with only one B and two with grade pending.
